Itinerary Detail
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Akagera National Park
Following an angelic breakfast in Kigali, you will be picked by a Verdant Safaris company representative who will transfer you to Akagera National Park, arriving in time for lunch. Rest for a while and later go for an afternoon game drive in the national park. This is Rwanda’s only savannah park with big game. Expect to see lions, leopards, African elephants, African buffaloes to mention a few. You will return for dinner and staying overnight at

Day 2: Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
Wakeup to a cup of coffee or tea. You will set out to the wilderness for an adventurous day. In the 4×4 wheel car drive, you will enjoy the view of animals more so the early morning risers. These include leopards, lions, zebras, antelopes giraffes and several birds of different species returning for lunch at the lodge and an afternoon boat cruise at Lake Ihema looking out for birds, crocodiles, hippos and many animals that come around to graze along the banks of the lake. Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Morning breakfast after which you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park passing through the beautiful countryside of Rwanda, in beautiful tea plantations. The park is home to the largest population of chimpanzees that attract so many travelers. En-route you will visit the Nyanza province and the Rwanda Cultural Museum in Butare. You will arrive for check in and dinner and stay overnight at

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Following breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters Uwinka Visitor Center early morning briefing after breakfast. Chimpanzees are said to be the closest relatives of man sharing up to 98% of the human DNA. They live within the ecosystem freely and love to nest up in the trees. The primates are so loud that you will hear them at a distance before actually meeting them. Return to the lodge for lunch and transfer to Volcanoes National Park arriving in the evening for check-in and dinner and stay overnight at

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Relaxation
Morning breakfast after which you will assemble at the park headquarters for morning briefing before on the dos and don’ts while with the mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is done in groups of eight per gorilla family and trekking time takes 2 or more hours depending on how far the gorillas have moved. Take pictures after which you will return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 6: Departure
You will wake up to a relaxed breakfast, after which you will transfer back to Kigali for your departure flight back home.
