Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Akagera National Park

Upon arrival you will be welcomed by a Verdant Safaris company representative who will transfer you to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah conservation area. You will arrive in time for an afternoon game drive in search of animal species of the park. Expect to see antelopes, giraffes, African buffaloes to mention a few. Dinner and staying overnight at

Day 2: Game Drives and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema

Have an early morning breakfast and head out to the park. Through the well distributed game trails, you will be spot early morning risers such as lions, zebras, African elephants, African buffaloes. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon boat cruise along the Lake Ihema. It lasts for 2-3 hours while entertaining in the wilderness. Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will have tea or breakfast after which you transfer to Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking exploration. The conservation area lies along the great Virunga volcanic region, hosts five of the 8 series of the volcanoes and is home to the critically endangered species of the mountain gorillas. Day 4: First Gorilla Trekking Experience

Have an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. You will be grouped into groups of eight to track the gorillas and time taken depends on how far the gorilla families have moved. You will be allowed 1 hour with the gorillas for observation and photography. The forest is home to other creatures like the elephants, forest duikers. Return to meet your guide who will transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. Dinner and staying overnight at

Day 5: Second Gorilla Trekking

Following your early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for briefing after which you head into the forest in search of these majestic creatures. Trekking time depends on how far the gorilla families have moved. It should be noted that mountain gorillas do not be in one position as they roam the forest in search of food. This can take 2 or more hours depending on how far they have gone. Just like the first time, you will be allowed 1 hour with the gorillas for photography. Day 6: Departure

Early in the morning you will transferred to the Kisoro Airstrip for your domestic flight to Entebbe for departure.
