Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali International Airport

Upon arrival you will be welcomed by a Verdant Safaris company representative who will brief you on the 6 day Rwanda tour. Depending on the time you arrive you will do a Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Cultural Museums of Rwanda and the local markets. Head to the hotel for dinner and staying overnight at;

Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 2: Helicopter Flight to Akagera National Park

Have an early morning breakfast, and be transferred to Kigali International Airport for a Helicopter Flight to Akagera National Park which takes approximately 25 minutes. You will meet your guide, transfer to the lodge for a hot lunch and an afternoon game drive. Expect to see lions, leopards, zebras, hartebeests, beautiful birds of the park, to mention a few. Return for dinner and staying overnight at;

Day 3: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise

On this day you will have breakfast after which you head out to spend the day in the national park. You will reach the park in search of the so called big five of the wilderness. From the time lions were reintroduced into Akagera National Park, it has been the best of all times and only place to see savannah species. Return for lunch and an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema expect to see water birds and islands along different lakes. Dinner and staying overnight at

Day 4: Helicopter Flight From Akagera National Park – Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to the airstrip to take your helicopter flight to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Arrive to meet your guide who will take you to the lodge for a hot lunch and an afternoon relaxation at the lodge. You can optionally have the Guided Nature Walk around the lodge premises. Dinner and staying overnight at;

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk

Wake up early, have breakfast, get packed lunch and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing on the dos and don’ts while with the chimpanzees. You will then enter the forest in search of the chimpanzees. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will be allowed up to 1 hour with them. Chimpanzees are said to share about 98% of the human DNA. They are characterized by their loud charter sound, herbivores in nature and are known to be so intelligent. Return for lunch and an afternoon Canopy Walk Experience on a suspended bridge along strong trees. The walk presents a chance to take a walk in the beautiful forest.

Day 6: Departure

You will take a relaxed morning breakfast after which you will go to the airstrip for a transfer to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home.
