A swimming pool and a beautiful garden await and the lovely staff members are willing to make your stay at the lodge as memorable as possible. Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel can be visited all year round but best during the dry seasons. The major activity of the park is mountain gorilla trekking. Gorillas enjoy feeding on the forest plants, tree backs, fruits and mush rooms. They live in groups of up to 20 members led by a silverback. Tracking time depends on how far the gorilla families have moved. It is important to buy gorilla permits prior to tracking time. The price is $1500 per permit. Other park activities include visiting the Dian Fossey tombs, an American primatologist who lost her life during her reign. Most of the great work was featured in the movie Gorillas In The Mist.
Volcanoes National Park has an incredible recommendable bird list. Over 200 birds species are present in the ecosystem. Carry along binoculars, and good lens cameras for a great experience of the national park, and some of the species are endemics of the great Albertine Rift Valley region.
